The University of Applied Sciences Utrecht (HU) is delighted to be the host of the AI4Debunk Mini-Symposium for researchers, consortium partners, faculty and the general public, as well as professionals in related fields such as media and technology, which will be held on October 22, 2024, in Utrecht.

In recent years, online disinformation has become a growing concern in Europe. With the rise of social media and internet usage, false information and propaganda can spread rapidly and easily, potentially influencing public opinion and undermining democratic processes. In response to this problem, various European countries have taken measures to debunk online disinformation.

AI4Debunk is a pioneering European project that aims to equip citizens with the tools they need to navigate the digital media landscape safely and make informed decisions. With the growing threat of disinformation to democracy, AI4Debunk aims to promote transparency, accuracy and responsible use of online platforms, by providing AI-powered human-centered tools. Thereby, supporting the trustworthy online activity of citizens.

This symposium will bring together experts, researchers, and professionals to explore the role of AI in combating disinformation and rebuilding trust. The event will feature insightful keynote presentations, interactive sessions, and discussions.
