What will you do at Utrecht University of Applied Sciences (UUAS)?

As manager of education at Utrecht University of Applied Sciences (UUAS), you will play a pivotal role in shaping our academic vision, co-designing our study programme, managing a dynamic team of education professionals and overseeing business operations. You will balance the operational aspects of education—like finance, marketing and logistics—with a steadfast focus on delivering high-quality learning experiences.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Collaborating with stakeholders, including lecturers, support staff, and industry partners, to foster innovation and alignment.
  • Inspiring others with a compelling vision for education and research while being decisive in driving outcomes.
  • Creating meaningful connections between management and teaching teams, and between research and professional practice, ensuring sustainable partnerships inside and outside UUAS.
  • Facilitating your team’s success by encouraging ownership, setting clear boundaries, and building frameworks to stimulate self-organization within the team.
  • Monitoring curriculum quality and efficiency, implementing improvements where needed, and ensuring clear communication of these changes.

Together with fellow managers and the dean, you will contribute to achieving institutional goals and ensuring the quality of the International Business bachelor program. These goals include:

  • Enhancing the quality of education.
  • Strengthening student-centered decision making and boosting student satisfaction (amongst others measured via the NSE).
  • Encourage personal development and increasing employee satisfaction.

As a manager of education, you are also managing, developing and looking after the well-being of the team. In consultation, the educational managers divide managerial topics between themselves (portfolios).

  • A one-year contract (D4) with the possibility of permanent employment, working 0.8–1.0 FTE. Internal candidates will retain their current contract type.
  • A competitive salary classified in scale 13, up to € 7495,89 per month for a full-time contract, depending on your experience and responsibilities.
  • On top of your salary, you’ll receive an 8% holiday allowance and a guaranteed year-end bonus of 8.3%.
  • You’ll also receive a health insurance contribution of €300 gross per year and an internet reimbursement of €37.50 net per month for a full-time appointment.
  • An NS Business Card for free public transport (for both work and private travel). Prefer to travel by car or bike? You’ll receive an excellent mileage allowance instead.
  • Excellent opportunities for study and development through our dedicated HU Development Portal, supporting your growth as a researcher and educator.
  • With a full-time contract, you’ll have the possibility to take more than 53 days of annual leave and receive 45 sustainable employability hours.

Your profile

  • Hold a master’s or PhD degree in a relevant professional domain;
  • Have management experience with academic professionals in a related environment for at least 5 years;
  • Have experience / affinity with higher education;
  • Have a clear perspective on relevant innovations in the professional domain and are able to translate these to education;
  • Can connect education, research, and the practical International Business world;
  • Possess excellent communication skills in English and preferably in Dutch, both verbal and written.

Institute for International Business Studies IIBS

The IIBS program has an international character and attracts colleagues and students from all over the world. We are an English speaking institute in a Dutch speaking environment, located at Heidelberglaan Utrecht. The institute contains several international programmes (bachelor and master), this vacancy is for the programme International Business (IB).

The International Business study programme trains for entry-level positions and careers in international companies, entrepreneurial start-ups and innovative businesses around the world. In particular, it trains in management, finance and marketing. The study programme describes international business professionals as: clear-thinking, innovative problem-solving young professionals and adventurous entrepreneurs in the global business world.
