Francois Maissan is in 1990 afgestudeerd als fysiotherapeut en in 1996 als manueel therapeut. In 2006 ronde hij de opleiding algemene gezondheidswetenschappen studie richting fysiotherapiewetenschap af aan de Universiteit van Utrecht.
In 2016 startte hij zijn promotietraject bij het lectoraat Leefstijl en Gezondheid van de HU en aan de VUmc. Dr Jan Pool en Dr Harriët Wittink zijn de co-promotoren en prof. Dr. Raymond Ostelo is de promotor. De titel is : "Non-specific neck pain: To match or not to match".
Vanaf 2007 is Francois Maissan als docent verbonden aan de Master Fysiotherapie van de HU. Daarnaast was hij van 2011-2018 redacteur bij FysioPraxis en van 2012 tot heden bestuurslid bij de NVMT. Tevens is hij nog werkzaam in de eerstelijns fysiotherapie te Vlaardingen in fysiotherapiepraktijk “Westwijk”.
