Admission requirements Master Sustainable Business Transition
If you want to start with the Master SBT, you need to have a related Bachelor’s degree. We allow students with a Dutch Bachelor’s degree, or their international equivalent, in:
- International Business
- Creative Business
- Business Administration (Bedrijfskunde)
- Entrepreneurship (Ondernemerschap)
- Retail Management
- Logistics Management
- Supply Chain Management
Do you have a different accredited Bachelor's degree? Then you need at least 60 credits in economic courses, such as business, entrepreneurship and/or management. A maximum of 10 credits out of 60 can come from courses in finance and/or macro-economics, since these competences are a small part of our programme.
Download the entry level document to check whether you are up to speed with the content of the programme. This document also directs you to relevant material which you can study before enrolling in the programme
Additionally, you are required to have a good command of English (see English proficiency for more details).
Note that the matching procedure procedure is a mandatory part of your enrolment. You need to fulfill all the steps of the procedure as described below.
If you are unsure whether you meet the entry requirements, you are advised to get in touch before applying at mastersbt@hu.nl.
Students living in the Netherlands (including non-Dutch nationals) can enrol via Studielink (in English, Dutch and German). You can apply for student grants and loans via Studielink as well. For this, you need a DigiD log-in code, which takes up to five days to obtain.
Note that it is always preferred to register before 1 July if you want to start in September because of the matching procedure and holidays. If you register later, it cannot be guaranteed that you can start the first week of the academic year because of the admission criteria for this master's programme.
Are you an international student? Please visit our international website, for all relevant information about admission to a master's programme.
After your admittance on Studielink, you will receive all the specific information and details about the matching procedure.
For the matching procedure you are required to submit the following documents:
- An English motivation letter (300-400 words) about your motivation, previous experience and expectations of this programme;
- A curriculum vitae with your past experience and education;
- A copy of your grade list and/or diploma;
- If your diploma is not from the Dutch economic domain (HEO), please provide a short list of the business courses you took in line with our requirement (at least 60 EC) with a brief course description (2-3 lines per course);
- If applicable, a language certificate that proves your English proficiency.
‘If the submitted material meets the basic requirements, you’ll receive study materials based on which you do a self-assessment to see if you qualify for the programme. After completing the assessment, you’ll have a personal interview. The details of this procedure are in the next section.
After taking the assessment, we will invite you for a matching interview to discuss if you are a match for the programme. We will then discuss the results of your assessment and see whether this is the right programme for you. This will give you the opportunity to explain and argue why you qualify for this programme.
Find out if you meet the language requirements or whether you need to take an English-language exam on our website about language requirements.
Please contact HU International Office (stip@hu.nl) if you have any questions regarding your English proficiency.
